根據臨床案例統計，缺牙的患者以老年人佔大多數，因牙周病、蛀牙、先天性缺牙的患者占少數，但大部份的老年人選擇活動假牙的機率比人工植牙的機率高上好幾倍，原因大多為活動假牙價格較為便宜，基於這樣的理由，活動假牙成為長輩治療缺牙的首選，而不將實用性較高的人工植牙放在第一順位，這樣的現象讓身為子女的都相當捨不得！
